I have always strongly believed in breaking down the status quo and that you should never be stuck in a box just because of age, how you dress and other boxes society tries to continuously put us in. As human beings we aren’t just one-dimensional. We are multifaceted creatures that can shift from day to day and our most important goal should be to embrace our most authentic selves. 

 

When I found myself in the hair industry, I didn’t choose it initially. It was something I was put into. As a technically thinking creative who only started exploring very limited beauty skills towards the end of high school, I didn’t think it would be something that would be my thing. But to my surprise it was the perfect blend of technical science and creative artistry. I had to work harder at the “fluff” or the styling to make things visibly pretty, but grasped the technical ability naturally. This is why I love helping clients who struggle with styling their hair at home, I used to be just like you with no idea how to use a curling iron. 

 

As my career progressed I realized that most salon environments expect stylists to fit a mold and limit their ability to be their authentic selves. I would always find ways to bend these limitations as best I could because I always felt clients could feel the falsity in the presentation and feel limited in being able to explore or present their own authenticity. 

 

Hair is our biggest accessory we can’t take off. Creating a space where everyone can feel authentic when caring for and changing our hair without being judged was one of my biggest priorities when I dreamt up Rocktopus. I want everyone to feel like they can be undeniably who they are. 

 

I love to help educate my clients on how to maintain and create easy wearable styles at home so you can be just as confident when you style your own hair outside of the salon. Education is such a big proponent of the experience I try to give through Rocktopus. I feel that educating clients is an important part of the hair experience and continue to learn myself to be the best I can be for those that sit in my chair.

 

With almost 20 years of experience, I enjoy creating low maintenance haircuts and at home regimens that are easy and will give you more life back or more snooze time on that alarm clock.
